Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living a Big Hit with Clients
When Aging Partners moved into their new headquarters at Victory Park, 600 S. 70th St., in May 2023, they knew their new Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living fitness center would be a popular destination for clients in search of a healthier aging experience. In the first year and a half since the relocation, fitness center clientele has increased by nearly 400 percent.
A big highlight has been the addition of new, state-of-the-art, pneumatic (air-powered) Keiser brand fitness equipment designed specifically for older adults. The new equipment is easy to use with weights adjusted with the push of a button. Cardio equipment includes NuStep recumbent cross trainers, exercise bikes, treadmills, an elliptical machine and a Helix lateral training bike. We also have a Hypervibe whole body vibration platform. There is something at the fitness center for everyone, regardless of ability and fitness level. Appointments with a personal trainer are also available at no charge. Appointments are required by calling 402-441-7575.
The new Victory Park location also houses a new in-house Health Promotion Clinic with a long, ongoing partnership with the UNMC College of Nursing. The clinic offers foot care services as well as bone density screening, blood glucose screening, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, ear wax removal and other services. Clinic services are provided by supervised student nurses. Appointments are required by calling 402-441-7506.
The future is bright for those over 60 who want to bring a healthier aging experience to their lives. The Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 402-441-7575 for more information or a current class schedule and get signed up for services.
