The USDA Food Smarts program is a flexible, learner-centered cooking and nutrition curriculum, part of the USDA's SNAP-Ed Connection, designed for K-12 youth and adults, including older adults, to improve nutritional health in communities. It's designed to be adaptable and focuses on participant engagement and building confidence in healthy behaviors.

The Food Smarts youth curriculum is interactive, designed for elementary and middle school-aged youth, focusing on heathy eating and food resource management. Food Smarts is designed to make learning about nutrition fun and relevant.

Food Smarts promotes a shift from ‘’take, make, and throw away’’ to a model of ‘’reuse, recycle, and compost’’.  The curriculum also includes trauma-informed principles and the most recent Dietary Guidelines.
