Improving Mom, Baby, and Family Health
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln receives the majority of funding for our initiatives through national and local foundations and health organizations. We have re-invested millions of those grant dollars to provide support to our non-profit partners, funding dozens of programs to improve and protect community health and reduce health disparities.
Community Breastfeeding Educators

In collaboration with cultural centers, clinics, and other non-profits, Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln provided full or partial financial and program support to train mothers from a variety of cultures as Community Breastfeeding Educators (CBEs). CBEs help new mothers and mothers new to America with challenges they may face on their breastfeeding journeys. The CBEs provide peer to peer breastfeeding support to mothers in their homes and communities in eight different languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Nuba, Burmese, Karenni, Vietnamese, Chinese and English. CBEs are available to provide information and support on site at MilkWorks, Bluestem Health, Lincoln Family Medicine, El Centro de las Americas, the Asian Community and Cultural Center, and the Malone Community Center.
Statewide Maternal Child Health Summit

Over 200 advocates for improving maternal and child health in Nebraska attended an all-day Maternal Health Child Summit on November, 2024, hosted by Partnership for a Healthy Nebraska (and Lincoln), along with the UNMC College of Public Health, Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative, Creighton University Institute for Population Health, and First Five Nebraska, with funding from United Healthcare. The summit included subject matter panel discussions led by community advocates and experts, with interactive audience participation.
Physicians, mental health professionals, health departments, university medical and public health schools, hospitals, legislators, community organizations, and other nonprofits from across the state came together to discuss barriers to accessing proper pregnancy and postpartum care, the long-term impact of inadequate care, legislation, and community efforts underway.
Community Resource Guides for Pregnancy and Postpartum Care

In 2024, we created English and Spanish language web-based and printed Lincoln Community Resource Guides for Pregnancy and Postpartum Care to help mothers and families find healthcare, insurance, and nutritional support all in one place to create better short-term and long-term health outcomes. The printed guides are available at healthcare providers, community organizations, and through child and family health advocacy groups.
Neighborhood Outreach

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln works with community members and organizations who are trusted voices to share health information in neighborhood safe spaces. The Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln and More Than a Shop outreach effort allowed neighborhood hubs like barbershops to reach more community members with evidence based health information on maternal and child health, chronic disease management, and vaccination safety.
